Heat Treatment of 22MnB5 with high rate heating

During my 3-month internship at the NMetAU in Dnipro, I continued my study work, which is a part of the master in mechanical engineering.
My studying contains the second part of the process of producing tubes of the steel sheet of 22 MnB5. After the roll forming the essential point is to utilize a heat treatment to set the final microstructure and mechanical properties of the product. In Hannover I started to research about the steel 22MnB5 connected with the process of heat treatment.
With the help of the experimental data of the dilatometer test I was able to identify the temperatures of start () and finish () of the transformation to austenite with different heating rate. By using the thermal expansion of the samples, it was possible to calculate the growing austenite volume between and depending on the heating rate. Without a holding time the samples were cooling down with higher cooling rate to get the martensite start and finish temperature.
The determined data were applied to simulate the process of heating and cooling in Ansys.
